My blog is called Fun with Depression, as it’s my attempt to cheer up those who need it. My humour is not only for those with clinical depression. The humour is sometimes related to depression, but it is usually broader than that. Hopefully you’ll find something here that will amuse you.

Over the years I’ve struggled with depression. Depression is a serious business that makes people’s lives miserable and often intolerable. However, one thing that I’ve found helpful to me, is humour. If I can laugh, then it makes the world seem less dark (at least for a few seconds anyway!).

I also enjoy illustrating my posts, so you’ll find cartoons and drawings dotted about the place too.

I hope you enjoy the blog. If you would like to get in contact with me about anything at all, then please do. There’s a contact form below.

  1. Hi, I think this blog is a great idea, I enjoyed your Hansel and Gretel story, going to read the Goldilocks one next! Sometimes we have to laugh about things or we’d cry (or not be able to cope.) Thanks for visiting my blog too 🙂 Good luck!
    Ellie 🙂

  2. Hi Charlie and thanks for following my blog. I agree with you 100% on the seriousness of depression and effectiveness of laughter in alleviating its symptoms. I have found singing and dancing to be equally effective. As long as no one’s is watching, I’d sing a funny song out loud and dance to my own tune 🙂 Happy blogging and I will be visiting often

  3. Nice to meet you Charlie. I have someone very close to me who suffers with depression and I see first hand the day to day struggles. I applaud you for talking about it and look forward to following.
~Keep smiling (and laughing), my friend 🙂

    1. Hello there! Thanks very much for the lovely comment, and for following me 🙂 I look forward to reading your blog. Sorry to hear that someone close to you suffers from depression. I hope they feel better soon 🙂

  4. Hi Charlie – – what can I say? This blog is tremendously ENJOYABLE! I too, suffer from depression (actually since the age of 15) and finally figured out that laughter is the only reprieve I can create for myself. Thanks so much for finding me (how did you, btw?) so that I could retrace the breadcrumbs (yep, too much Hansel and Gretel as a kid) back to you and, all of this WONDER! With great appreciation for your extraordinary talent….Stephanie
ps. Your sketches are a blast, too!

    1. Hello Stephanie,
I’m so glad that you enjoyed reading it. I’m sorry to hear that you suffer from depression. It’s a terrible thing, but I found that writing down silly things on this blog was very helpful for me. I’m glad that the writing on your highly amusing blog helps you to have some reprieve.
Well, I found you in the Reader. There’s a small box that says something like “you might like” with a small list of blogs. I saw yours and thought ‘that sounds like the blog for me!’ The rest was history.
Thanks for the lovely comment, I really appreciate it.
      All the best,
